The Drummond Hill Cemetery is the focal point of the Battle of Lundy’s Lane, with the Memorial being the most pronounced marker on the field.  The beautiful Copper Beech Tree is another feature of the property, along with memorials and tombstones for various American and Canadian soldiers who fought in the Battle of Lundy’s Lane and several others who didn’t.

Both sides suffered heavy losses during the Battle of Lundy’s Lane and these were severe in proportion to the number of combatants. The casualty rates were nearly equal, as both sides recorded around 800 casualties, which included men killed, wounded or missing. This was the highest single casualty rate for the War of 1812.
